Karen Radley chats to Dee Vesali founder of Talis Chains for our latest “My Neighbourhood ” Interviews
Tell me about your fashion background:
Many moons ago I studied Fashion Journalism at the London Collage of Comminication. I started my career in celebrity PR for an agency looking after George Michael (then), Mariah Carey and Rupert Everett. After a few incredible years learning PR and its fast paste trade, I moved into Fashion PR where I stayed for 10+ years before launching Talis Chains in 2020.
Favourite neighbourhood in Battersea:
Battersea Park holds a special place in my heart.
Favourite place for brunch:
Farmer’s Mistress
Best coffee in Battersea:
Doppio
Favourite gallery or museum:
I love the Affordable Art Fair that pops up in the park yearly. Great weekend to brows/ invest, meet people but also learn more about art (I am a rookieJ).
Tell us a secret:
I look composed but deep inside I don’t know any of my passwords.
Favourite place to shop:
I love shopping when travelling. Finding cute village shops and getting a memory from my trip is absolutely my favourite way to shop. Can be from weekend travels in the UK to international destinations, but there is no better way to pick up interesting pieces than when exploring the world. PLUS, being a small business myself, I also love supporting other small businesses.
Favourite place to find inspiration:
I don’t have a special place but travelling in general inspires me, but I am also part of the 5am club and find that most of my inspiration and design ideas comes to me over that 5am coffee when the world is still quiet, and I sit in my lounge sipping my coffee plotting world domination.
Best Battersea destination for a date:
For a first date I love a cheeky beer at The Prince Albert or The Woodman. Keep it simple.
Favourite park:
Battersea Park
Favourite food market:
I love the Duke of York Square Saturday market in Spring and Summer. Nothing like a glass of champane whilst browsing the stalls of incredible food and more importantly CHEECE. The Falafel Wraps from the Falafel Man are a different level! Yum!
Your sanctuary in your neighbourhood:
I love picking up a coffee at the Pear Tree Café in Battersea Park and then sit on a bench with my English Bulldog Pavarotti watching people and the world go by.
What inspires you:
Good manners always puts a spring in my step.
Tell us about the Talis Chain’s collection for S/S2024:
As always, at the core of Talis Chains sits fashionable sunglasses chains to elevate your everyday style. SS24 sees our jewellery department expand by announcing earrings. You will see plenty of nice gold chains designed to layer, pearls always (clasics with a twist) but also the appearance of Turquoise and Lapis stone for the summer.
